3x3 sponsors two competitions each year, one for students and the other for professional illustrators. Both shows are judged by some of the top names in international illustration and design.

The Student Show is open to all undergraduate and graduate students in universities, colleges and art schools around the world. The Professional Show is also an international show open to practicing illustrators and includes two separate categories: published and unpublished.
